Our Cryptic Crossword group was set up a few years ago to encourage members to learn how to solve the type of clues involved in cryptic puzzles. The group has some experienced puzzlers and also complete newbies, who had often said 'I can't solve cryptic crosswords. I don't know where to start and don't understand the clues'

Our initial sessions paired up a newbie with an experienced  crossword solver, helping them to interpret the clues. They soon became hooked. 

We still have some relatively inexperienced solvers in the group, but everyone chips in and helps, especially with analysing the clues. Cryptic Crossword solving encourages lateral thinking, stimulating parts of the brain that help to improve memory and logical thinking.
