If you enjoy walking but are no longer able to cover long distances or meet the challenge of mountain climbs, the Easy Walking group might be ideal for you.  Most walks are 1 - 4 miles, occasionally further, usually along flat, well-laid tracks such as cycle paths, towpaths, pavements etc both within and beyond the boundaries of Bridgend County.  The emphasis is on keeping active but enjoying conversation at the same time, so the pace is moderate.  No dogs.  Our walks almost invariably end with refreshments in a conveniently located café. Details of this month's planned walk will appear below.

Our next walk is on Tuesday, 19th May, 10.30am start, and we will be walking from the start of Locks Common (Porthcawl) to Pink Bay and back, stopping for a cuppa at Rest Bay on the return - approx. 3.5 miles. As I am away this month your walk leader will be Ruth Griffiths.

Meeting point: the shelter at the far end of the promenade in Porthcawl, i.e. at the start of Locks Common/the far end of West Drive before it turns right. It is a case of parking where you can in Porthcawl, so allow plenty of time, although parking along the prom would be ideal.

The route takes us along the road parallel to the Common, then we join the footpath/boardwalk to the start of Kenfig Nature Reserve. The terrain is therefore pavement, tarmac footpath and boardwalk. There is a cafe/toilet facilities at Rest Bay.

Sensible footwear please!  If it is raining heavily on the day the walk will not go ahead but you will not be notified of cancellation – please exercise your judgement. If it’s showers, drizzle, light rain then it will (or at least your convenor will turn up to decide with you).

Enjoy your walk!
