Calendar September 2026

The calendar of Bridgend u3a groups and activities for September is attached, and it’s a lively month!

All groups return to their normal timings, with the Monthly Meeting welcoming Philip Thomas as speaker on the intriguing topic of ‘My Grandad was a Rum Runner’.

The History Group starts a new series – Fact or Fiction – with a discussion on the statement “Mary, Queen of Scots, was the author of her own downfall”.

We have two Book Groups meeting on the 4th Tuesdays and Wednesdays of the month, but they also have a joint get-together for a Coffee & Chat on the last Friday of the month (10.30am) at the Corvo Lounge in the centre of Bridgend.  If you are interested in finding out more about the Book Groups, please do join them.

And the ever-popular Pop-Up Gardening Group will be meeting this month on Friday,18th September, 10.00 – 12.00 at Greenmeadow Cottage.  The topics for discussion will be the autumn agenda, climate change, and there will be a photo competition of dahlias.  It is essential that anyone planning to attend notifies Carole McDonald either by email: honeycjmc@btinternet.com or phone/text to: 07738 716845.

Easy Walking is likely to be low in numbers attending due to holidays etc so the few will meet at Parc Slip Nature Reserve at 10.30am for a leisurely stroll around the Reserve and a cuppa in the very popular café afterwards.  Anyone is welcome to join us.

Advance notice: the calendar for October will be issued later than usual, but hopefully by the end of the first week of that month.  I’m off on travels too!

Enjoy your month!
