Claudette, who leads our Write Away group, has taken first prize in the first ever u3a Essay Competition.

Her essay, "The Spark Behind the Sizzle" explores the impact of Albert Marsh's invention of nichrome, which powers modern technology including the toaster and the hairdryer.
